I love finding new authors to gush about.  Discovering Cindy M. Hogan must have been fate.  I randomly saw a tweet from Cindy that said if you retweeted her status she would send you a free audiobook of Watched.  And so began my new obsession.  Not only did I listen to the audiobook, I purchased the books (book 1 is Free) and read along.  I could not get enough of this series.  The Watched Trilogy is action packed, fast paced, suspenseful, YA spy novel.  A complete thrill ride in all three books.  Check out my reviews!

Change.
She longs for it.
A murder.
She will never be the same.

It takes more than a school trip to Washington, D.C. to change Christy's life. It takes murder.
A witness to the brutal slaying of a senator's aide, Christy finds herself watched not only by the killers and the FBI, but also by two hot guys.
She discovers that if she can't help the FBI, who want to protect her, it will cost her and her new friends their lives.

Mild mannered, quiet, shy Christy Hadden is looking forward to her group trip to Washington D.C. to study politics up close. She is also hoping to reinvent herself so that when she returns to her small hometown in Montana she won’t be bullied and an outcast any longer. Christy gets way more than she bargained for when she and fellow student, Marybeth, witness the brutal murder of a senator’s aide. After calling the others from their group into the bathroom were they witnessed the murder through a vent, it puts all 8 of their lives in danger. While trying to avoid the terrorists, they continue on with the group trip, but that’s much easier said than done.

This story intrigued me with its twists and turns and immediately pulled me into the story. I found Christy to be easily relatable as a book nerd, honor student, and all around good girl. She finds her faith and morals strongly tested on this trip and not just by the terrorists and FBI. Christy has her first crush(es), first kiss, and first dance all while eluding the bad guys. Pretty cool, huh. The story definitely kept me on my toes. It’s a fast paced, heart pounding narrative. The author’s style reminds me of James Patterson but a YA edition. I look forward to reading other works by Cindy M. Hogan.

Christy has the guy. The terrorists have been taken care of, and she has a shot at becoming popular. Life is GREAT! Until they find her. Now she must run and leave behind everything she knows, including herself.

When Christy returns home, she discovers that not much has changed. Not only is she still an outcast, but the bullies are even more persistent than before. When the guy that sends her pulse racing shows up, everything changes. Unfortunately, her feeling of triumph is short lived when the terrorists from DC come calling. Now, Christy and her boyfriend need to find a way to escape and hide.

Be careful what you wish for.  Fifteen year old Christy wanted desperately to be reinvent herself and now thanks to witness protection she gets to do just that.  But at what cost?  Christy can never see her family or friends again.  The FBI has faked her death.  Meet her new persona.  The complete opposite of Christy, Michelle is 17, a senior, a cheerleader and in the  popular crowd.  Sometimes getting what you asked for is not what it is cracked up to be.

Protected is a grueling story of how Christy becomes Michelle.  Her handler, John, is anything but easy on her.  But through it all you see Christy/Michelle become stronger, independent and a more confident young woman.  Even though she thought she wanted to popular, Christy/Michelle soon realizes it’s not as great as it seems.  Without giving away spoilers, Protected is a thrill ride, When Christy/Michelle’s group cheerleading photo is shown on national TV, the terrorists are once again hot on her heels.  Will all the tough training John put her through pay off or will the terrorist catch her?

Even after her transformation from Christy to Michelle, the MC is still very relatable.  Michelle strives to be accepted by everyone and doesn’t want to be pigeon holed to just the popular crowd.  She finds herself drawn to kids who are just like she was as Christy.  It bears in mind can you really change the person you are on the inside?

This is a great series and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a high energy, intense, thrill ride of a story.  I cannot wait to read the last book in this trilogy.

Created, the final book in the Watched Series, certainly held true to the series. All I can say is wow! The MC has gone from being straight laced Christy, to cheerleading Michelle, to grunge chick Ari. In this final installment Ari is attending spy school as the terrorists are being rounded up once again. She finds that she has quite an aptitude for spy stuff and once all the bad guys are arrested or dead, Ari is faced with a huge decision. No one is who they appear to be and spies are lurking everywhere.

I love this series and my introduction to author Cindy M. Hogan. The MC, Christy, was very and I like that through it all she did not compromise her core values and stayed true to herself. I am thrilled to see that Christy’s story doesn’t end her but continues on with Adrenaline Rush.

Cindy M. Hogan is inspired by the unpredictable teenagers she teaches. More than anything she loves the time she has with her own teenage daughters and wishes she could freeze them at this fun age. If she's not reading or writing, you'll find her snuggled up with the love of her life watching a great movie or planning their next party. Most of all, she loves to laugh.
She graduated with a BA in education and is the bestselling and award winning author of the Watched trilogy, a YA suspense series with a dash of romance. She has since branched off to write a mystery, Gravediggers, that won Best YA novel of 2013, a contemporary romance, Sweet 'n Sour Kisses, and two in a spy series, Adrenaline Rush and Hotwire.
