You don’t realize when your life is about to change forever, how a simple text can tear your world apart.
Esme Danvers doesn’t have an easy life but at least she is loved by her widower father...or at least that’s who she thought he was for 17 years. Enter William Forbes, top 10 of America’s one percent and her actual father - or rather the father of Esmeralda Forbes, the girl she was born to be, the heir to a legacy she’d never known or wanted.
Esme’s thrown into a world of glamour and money, smoke and mirrors, hate, pain, and unspoken rancor. A world with a distant, calculating, and uncaring father; Archibald, a brother who hates her; and Caleb, his best friend, who is as wicked and mean as he is beautiful and charismatic.
Caleb, this broken boy whom she can’t seem to hate enough to keep him out of her bloodstream, a boy who doesn’t seem to hate her enough to stay away.
But as the past reveals itself in ways Esme didn’t expect, she finds herself in the middle of a swirl of lies, betrayals, conspiracy, and even murder, with barely anyone to watch her back.
The only thing she really wants is to get back to being Esme Danvers, to find a way out before it’s too late.

Interview with R.G. Angel

  1. Was a possible audiobook recording something you were conscious of while writing?
No actually and thank god for that because let me tell you that listening to the sex scenes I wrote make me blush terribly!

  2. How closely did you work with your narrator before and during the recording process? Did you give them any pronunciation tips or special insight into the characters? I worked very closely with my narrators. We had regular meetings to discuss the books and yes we had guides and we discussed characters. For example Antoine is French and my narrators wanted to know if he had a faint accent etc… What helped a lot was that they both LOVED the story and therefore were really invested in making it as good as they could. I am truly honored to work with them.
  3. Were there any real life inspirations behind your writing? Lord no, it’s maybe a good thing that my life is not as chaotic as my heroines bless them. The only character which i would say is a bit like me is Alessandra from Lovable - she is a geeky lawyer (okay 100% guilty as charged here)
  4. How do you manage to avoid burn-out? What do you do to maintain your enthusiasm for writing? Well working full time as a lawyer and writing is time consuming but writing has always been a passion of mine so I see it more as an escape than anything. So I think that it’s writing that is keeping me grounded and helping me to avoid Burn-outs :)
  5. If this title were being made into a TV series or movie, who would you cast to play the  primary roles? Oh I love that question! Esme would be Alexandra Daddario - Caleb would be a young Alex Pettyfer from Beastly he fits him to the T - Attitude and everything. I see Archibald as a young Robbie Amel (in The Duff)
  6. What do you say to those who view listening to audiobooks as “cheating” or as inferior to “real reading”? This is elitist and frankly incorrect. Reading is reading and audiobooks force you to use your imagination without any visual stimulus so it is a form of reading;  those people are just narrow minded.
  7. How did you celebrate after finishing this novel? I start the next one!
  8. What gets you out of a writing slump? What about a reading slump? Ah a writing slump is always frustrating. When it happens I take a couple of days off - trying to get my mind off of it or I jump ahead on the story and write a scene that amuses me hoping i’ll get back in the mood. As for reading slump I go and reread one or two of my favorites it usually works.
  9. In your opinion, what are the pros and cons of writing a stand-alone novel vs. writing a series? Umm. What I like about Standalones is that it allows you to visit something once and you don’t get bored - You get diversity but sometimes you realize that you may have had more to say or side characters to develop but you have to settle.  What I enjoy when I write a series is I get to develop the world in unexpected ways. For example when I started The Patricians series I didn’t expect Antoine (one of the side characters) to capture my heart and then I knew I had to share his story. I like this element and it is the same here in The Cosa Nostra series I’m working on. I have three books to develop the world and I’m excited! But it is true that sometimes you can get a little bored or tired of a world and want to try something else.
  10. Have any of your characters ever appeared in your dreams? Yes, I’m working on a steamy Mafia standalone series right now and I have to admit that Luca, Dom and Andrea are haunting my dreams these days…..;)
  11. What's your favorite:
    1. Food - Cheese!
    2.  Song: Oh that’s a tough one! It all depends on the genre but I do love Show Must Go on by Queen.
    3.  Book: I can’t pick one sorry! I read too much all the time.
    4. Television show: I am TV addict I can’t pick but here are a few of my favorites: Buffy, Schitt’s Creek, Psych, Charmed, Friends, House Md….
    5. Movie: Shawshank Redemption, The Other Guys and quite a few more.
    6.  Band: Queen
    7.  Sports team: The team with the hottest guys? Ah sorry I don’t watch sports.
    8.  City: I don’t have a favorite city - I would like to explore the world but I do dream to visit New York one day.
  12. Are any of those things referenced in appearance in your work? Yes! Schitts Creek, Queen and cheese, lots of cheese lol.
  13. What bits of advice would you give to aspiring authors? To not give up and follow your own path. Don’t compare yourself to other authors out there. Some will hit it big after one book, others after 20 - It’s your story you’re living - the plot is different but it is still a success. Just write and see how it goes.
  14. Do you have any tips for authors going through the process of turning their books into audiobooks? Make sure you research the market and the indie publishing behind audiobooks as it can get quite complicated and is quite different from the books market. I was lucky to be working with very experienced narrators who helped me understand the market better and make informed choices.
What’s next for you? I am working on a Mafia series Book 1 - Broken Prince will be released on March 31st and I can’t wait for you guys to try it. These guys are everything!
About the Author: R.G. Angel

I’m a trained lawyer, world traveller, coffee addict, cheese aficionado, avid book reviewer and blogger.
I consider myself as an ‘Eclectic romantic’ as I love to devour every type of romance and I want to write romance in every sub-genre I can think of.
When I’m not busy doing all my lawyerly mayhem, and because I’m living in rainy (yet beautiful) Britain, I mostly enjoy indoor activities such as reading, watching TV, playing with my crazy puppies and writing stories I hope will make you dream and will bring you as much joy as I had writing them.
