When thirteen-year-old Ethan Morus is forced to stay on his grandparent's old farm, he expects to find weathered barns, rusty tools, and a creaky house in need of fresh paint. What he doesn’t expect is to hear a legend placing his family at the center of an ancient treasure hunt. Or find burial chambers protected by poltergeists, or a secret lair guarded by an ancient beast. And least of all, Ethan doesn’t suspect that powerful sorcerers are watching his every move.
They've found Ethan and believe he is from a line of treasure hunters who possess a rare instinct to locate powerful artifacts. Whether he has the instinct or not, Ethan is faced with a choice—search the Morus property and find what they want or lose yet another family member.

~~Reviews~~
The Hunter Awakens is Percy Jackson meets Hogwarts meets National Treasure. It's filled with magic, mystical beings, good and evil. It's a fantastic YA read that weaves an adventurous tale.
My favorite character is Ethan's sister, Destry. She is fun, sassy and makes a great sidekick.
J.R. Roper has created a story to entertain for generations. I look forward to continuing this journey with Ethan, Destry and Ripley.

Exciting book and a fun adventure for young readers. Follow Ethan and his sister Destry on an adventure of a lifetime! Right of the bat the story opens with a tornado striking down and destroying their house. With dad having recently died and mom having to work, Ethan and Destry are off to spend some time at their grandparent’s house for a few weeks. From there the adventure begins!
I enjoyed the action. There was always a lot going on and never a dull moment. I did find some of the action scenes confusing, but not to the point that I didn’t understand what was going on. And I am amazed at the bravery of Ethan and Destry. I was sad for the character Mel, I hope to read more about her in the next book. She definitely captured my attention and I want to know her more.
Overall this was a fun book and a quick read. The story came to a nice ending without leaving you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens, but it leaves you open and anxious to see what is in store next for Ethan, the treasure hunter who has been awakened.
