Lucian Barnes terrifies me. It's true. So far I have only had the nerve to read one of his books. Destine for Darkness took me down a path I was not prepared for. Mr. Barnes writes in a twisted, bone chilling, Stephen King ish manner that left me feeling quite disturbed. I still have books written by him on my TBR list. However, I don't think I am quite ready for them. See for yourself...

Destined for Darkness is the first book I have read by Lucian Barnes. All I can say is WOWZERS! This thrill ride sucks you in immediately and won't let go.
At first, you feel sorry for Frank Mancini. He is severely abused by his mother and his dad seems oblivious to it all. After years of torture, Frank snaps brutally killing and mutilating his mother. Frank leaves Ohio and starts a new life in California. There he meets a wonderful girl, April, quickly falls in love and starts a family. Just as Destined for Darkness is the first book I have read by Lucian Barnes. All I can say is WOWZERS! This thrill ride sucks you in immediately and won't let go.

As George gets older, he begins to learn secrets about his father. Secrets that shatter and disgust George forcing him to leave home. It becomes evident that George is following a very similar path as Frank did all those years ago. Will the sins of the father be revisited upon the son?
Lucian Barnes has a way of bringing crazy to the table so everyone can understand it. With hints of a Stephen King like style he seems to have a flare for the demented. His books reel you in, gripping you till the end and then relinquish you long enough to give you nightmares that night.

Lucian Barnes
Lucian began his writing career late in 2010, but has spent most of his life writing stories. He is a fantasy/horror novelist whose first published works were released in 2012. Because this cause hits close to home for Lucian, the fifth book in the Desolace Series, Cemetery Hill, will have a portion of its sales donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. His next novel will be a sequel to EL-204 called Wasteland, which is scheduled to release in September 2015. Lucian lives in Pueblo, Colorado.
