Fractured Reflections is a collection of nine short stories created from the twisted and sadistic mind of Lucian Barnes. The common theme among these short stories is that each character seems to have a flaw that is revealed thus showing his/hers fractured reflection.
Fans of his Desolace series will be excited to return to Misty Hollows and the home of serial killer, George Mancini. If you are a fan of the classic Twilight Zone and Tales from the Crypt, you will definitely find a few tales reminiscent of those shows. This eclectic collection has haunted houses, zombies, a cursed typewriter, and much more. Read at your own risk!
1. Write of Passage
Write of Passage is one of my favorite stories in this collection. Fans of the Desolace series will love returning to Misty Hollows’ home of the serial killer dubbed the Headhunter. This terrifying tale proves that evil never dies.
2. Hallucinogenic Properties
The old adage do unto others would have served Fred well in the violent tale of Hallucinogenic Properties. He definitely reaps what he has sown.
3. Weight of the World
This one is sure to give you nightmares! Weight of the World has a Stephen King feel to it. It’s a dark and twisted short about a cursed typewriter. Every writer’s nightmare comes true.
4. Griselda & The Seven Gnomes
Griselda & the Seven Gnomes is a Grimm retelling of Snow White with an unexpected twist only Lucian Barnes can deliver. It is definitely one of my favorites in this collection. Parents, you will not be reading this one while tucking in the kiddos.
5. O.C.D. (Ocular Culinary Device)
O.C.D is straight out of the Twilight Zone. The futuristic ocular culinary device is all the rage and a must have by housewife, Linda. O.C.D. proves the adage that if something is too good to be true then it probably is.
6. The Perfect Bite
The Perfect Bite is by far the most bizarre stories in Fractured Reflections. It has a Tales from Crypt vibe to it.
7. Too Good To Be True
Remember the movie House on Haunted Hill? Too Good To Be True has that same vibe. The ghosts of this old dilapidated farm house definitely do not bring out the warm and fuzzies. Read this one with the lights on!
8. Be Prepared
If Be Prepared teaches us anything it is that there is something to be said about being an introvert during a zombie apocalypse. Had Bill not craved human interaction, he and Kathy would have been much better off.
9. The Devil’s Hour
The Devil’s Hour is one of my top three favorite stories in Fractured Reflections. While the hotel and character are fictional, the author does say in the introduction that the inspiration for this tale came from his stay at the infamous Stanley Hotel. Having said that, this is not a retelling of The Shining. Far from it, in fact. Even Stephen King is not this twisted

After working several menial jobs through the years that followed, my thoughts again began to turn toward writing books. Inspired by my favorite author, Stephen King, I took an online creative writing course and slowly began to develop my skills. In late 2010 I was given a violent shove, both by the job market (which was horrible to say the least, and still is) and by the persistent encouragement of close friends, to pick up my pen and begin writing again.
In early 2012, I gave birth (that's almost what it felt like) to my very first published book, Desolace. Finally having a completed novel in my hand was the best feeling in the world for me, giving me a sense of accomplishment I had waited a lifetime for. Since then it has gotten easier for me with each book I have published. Since the initial release of Desolace, I have published nine more novels as well as an omnibus edition ebook of the entire Desolace series. My next book, a collection of short stories called Fractured Reflections, is scheduled for release in February 2017.
