Wake the Dead is book 1 in Rourke's new novella series, The Journals of Octavia Hollow. Its fast paced, action packed, full of sarcasm and wit, and laugh out loud funny at times. If you are not amused by a pig in a baby carrier strapped to a necromancer 's chest, then this book is not for you.

​We first met Octavia in the Havenwood Falls Novella How the Dead Lie, while it would be a bonus to read it first, you really don't have to. 

I loved seeing what happens after they left HWF. Octavia is searching for answers, and growing into who she is meant to be. Will she find herself or will she have to continue searching?
