Fake Nora
by Kelly Martin
The sign over the covered antique mirror said DO NOT TOUCH. Twelve-year-old Nora wished she had listened.

Mirrors reflect what is in front of them, but what happens behind the glass-to the reflections themselves? Nora finds out when her own reflection, aka Fake Nora, changes places with her one night. Nora is shoved in a place that looks exactly like her house with no echoes, dull lights, and muted sounds. It isn't her home at all, simply a shell of a place she loves.

Fake Nora is living her best life in Nora's house, feeding on the fear of her little brother while no one else at the house knows anything is wrong.

Inside "reflectionland," Nora meets thirteen-year-old Jesse, who has been stuck in his mirror since the forties, and he warns her that they aren't alone in the house. There are others sneaking around, known as the bad ones-spirits of people who gave up after vanishing in the mirror.

Refusing to stay a reflection forever, Nora conjures a plan to escape, but Fake Nora isn't about to give up her life in Nora's home. And Jesse? He could become a bad one forever.

Lynn's Review

As if urban legends haven't given us enough reasons to be terrified of mirrors, Martin's FAKE NORA is sure to leave us clamoring to cover them all.

If Stephen King wrote MG horror, I imagine it would go something like this.

Martin has wowed fans for years with her spooky, creeptastic chills for adults, and now she is ensnaring the preteens too

Fangirl Thursday& Giveaway

Join me and Kelly on March 4th at 7:30PM EST for a LIVE Q&A. I will be giving away a paperback of Fake Nora to a lucky participant.

~~~Lynn's Review ~~~
Wow. Just. Wow. I read this book in one sitting. Spent my Sunday propped in bed devouring the story. Yes, it is that good. I am a huge fan of Becca Vincenza's work. Seriously, she could write ingredients on a cereal box and I would read it.
Art of Death is a paranormal, urban fantasy, mystery, filled with secrets, betrayal and a smidge of romance all rolled into a fantatstic new series. I was enthralled from page one. As secrets are revealed the mystery grows as to who is after the twins Rowan and Abel. The target on their backs is massive. Everyone wants the Curse Breakers for their own agenda.
I love the bond between Ro and Abel. They aren't just bother and sisier, but best friends. The tension between Ro and Indie, her ex -best friend and ex-boyfriend, is palpable. I need them to have a HEA! Are you listening, Becca?
Rowan is my favorite character. She is witty, sassy, and ballsy as hell. I want to be her friend!
I cannot wait to see where this series goes.
Review ~ Good Girls Stay Quiet by Jo Cassidy
I finished Good Girls Stay Quiet about a week ago but I needed time for the Feels to settle down before I could write my review.
Picture
^^^^That graphic sums it up.
Cassidy's portrayal of Cora was haunting. Her naivete. Her innocence. Her unwaning desire to make "Daddy" happy. The psychological and physical abuse Cora endured left a lasting imprint on my soul. And that ending... In a story like this can there be a happy ending?
****This story deals with intense emotional and physical abuse but does not include sexual abuse. In my opinion, the story is suitable for teens.
There's safety in silence...
Fifteen-year-old Cora Snow has a secret only her "Daddy" and her journal know about. Aside from Daddy, the only people Cora talks to are her teachers and imaginary friends. She obeys all of Daddy's commands, like calling him "Daddy," to keep him happy, and herself alive. Besides, it's the only normal she's ever known.
She's content in her bubble until one day her journal goes missing at school. In order to keep her secret, Cora is forced to befriend the students most likely behind the theft. Since she's never been friends with humans before, it makes acting naturally with them that much harder.
Soon, threats appear--blackmailing things like test answers and money in exchange for the journal. Cora has to break all the rules she's lived to keep her and Daddy's secret safe. His stormy moods add to the difficulty of meeting the blackmailer's demands, often getting her sent to timeout, aka a locked basement.
If Cora can't track down the blackmailer and destroy the journal, Daddy will get sent to jail, and if he has time, send Cora six feet under.
Quick, fast paced read. Very enjoyable. Octavia and Bacon are something else. I found myself laughing out loud a few times, gaining myself some weird looks from the family, but oh well! Octavia is not much closer to finding the answers she is looking for, we did get another clue though! I can't wait for more. ~ Crystal
Meet The Author
Elizabeth Kirke wanted to be an author before she even knew what an author was. She used to say that she wanted to be an artist, but that was only because she was too young to write and had to tell stories with pictures instead. She hasn't stopped writing since she learned how. It wasn't long before she dreamed of becoming an author and couldn't be happier now that that dream is a reality. If she isn't writing...well, let's be honest; if she isn't writing she's probably on Facebook thinking that she should start writing. But, if she isn't writing or on Facebook, she's probably doing something involving books, baking, gardening, or yarn. In an ideal world, she'd be reading and knitting while something from the garden is in the oven. Then again, in an ideal world, she'd have a flock of ducks and a couple of goats. Like most slightly-nosy, avid readers, Elizabeth can't resist trying to catch a peek at books she sees people reading when out in public to see if she can figure out what it is. While doing just that one day, she realized that it would probably be the coolest-thing-ever if she caught a complete stranger reading one of her books. That's her new dream.
~~~REVIEWS~~~

In Wrought Iron Roses, Elizabeth Kirke weaves mystery, magic, and suspense into a spine-tingling, paranormal romance.

In this installment we learn more about Ethan and Rachel's connection, get clues about Jo, and a bombshell is dropped in the girls when they find out there Aunt Lydia is not dead! Kirke is notorious for dropping clues in plain sight that excited readers miss; me included. Trust me. The clues are there!

Kirke has delivered another fast paced, page turner in Wrought Iron Roses.

This was worth the wait!
Ethan and Angie, Rachael and Peter, Jo, and Allen. We learn so much more about everyone and meet Allen for the first time. Jo is still a mystery that I can't wait to figure out. There are some ideas in my head but we know nothing for sure. I want to learn more about Gus too! And the owl, aaaahhhh so many questions still. I can't wait for book 3.

The night before my wedding, I ran.

I needed a place to hide. A place to start over. A place to figure out how to move forward with my life.

When my cousin Lena offered me a rent free apartment in Chicago, it seemed like the perfect solution. And it was until the legal tenant, a Marine named Josh, returned early from his deployment overseas.

The little security I had shattered. I had no place left to go, and I couldn’t live with a man I didn’t know. But I had no choice. If he knew how badly I was damaged, he wouldn’t want me around. After all, that’s what he had told me over and over. Nobody would want me.

Maybe sometimes you have to run away to find yourself.

The night of my wedding, I ran, but I hadn’t ran far enough.

Review ~ Trinity Row by Kelly Martin

3/10/2019

Fans of the classic Alfred Hitchcock movies are going to love Trinity Row. This story is unnerving and will leave readers questioning their sanity! The house will not die and the person pulling its strings might not be who you think. I found myself scrolling back and re-reading sections to see if I missed any clues. Trinity Row is a twisted, haunting tale that you simply must read more than once.

 thang (lol) you will love her stories! ~ Lynn
Picture
Kelly Martin writes southern gothic, paranormal, contemporary, historical, and YA fiction. She has been married for over ten years and has three rowdy, angelic daughters. When she's not writing, she loves taking pictures of abandoned houses, watching horror gamers on YouTube—even though she's a huge wimp—and drinking decaf white chocolate mochas. She's a total fangirl, loves the 80s and 90s, and has a sad addiction to paranormal TV shows. (Basically, she likes creepy stuff.) Her favorite characters are the very flawed 'good guys'—and 'bad guys' who don't know they are evil. She loves giving her readers books with unexpected twists and turns.

~*~*~This series is New Adult some themes may be unsuitable for anyone under the age of 18. Contains some strong language and sexual content.~*~*~

REVIEW

You need to read Art of the Dead (Curse Breakers Book 1) first.  Book 1 is told from Rowan's perspective while Book 2 is simultaneously happening and is told from Rowan's twin, Abel's, POV.

Necromancers, vampires, and witches, oh my! Abel's story is an action packed thrill ride with a few unexpected twists thrown into the mix.  As it is quite the page turner, I devoured it in a day.

Usually I am drawn to the MC in a story, but in Secrets of the Dead, Acacia really grabbed my attention.  The girl has a story to tell and I can't wait to hear it.

Once again Becca Vincenza has created a cast and story that I have fallen for.  I am anxiously waiting for the next book in this series.

Review~ THE BEFORE by D.C. Grace

1/21/2019

0 Comments

The Before is the first book by author D.C. Grace that I have read. At first, I was unsure of how I felt about the fact the author wrote the story from several characters points of view. I was concerned that there would be no mystery since the reader saw so many sides to the story at once. Thankfully, that was not the case. Each of the dynamic characters had something to contribute and added depth and surprises to the story.

The Before was a fast-paced thrill ride with murder, mystery, lust, and love. It evoked all the feels. I laughed. I cried. I shook my fist in the air. It brought out a lot of emotion.

I look forward to reading other books by this author.

~~~REVIEW~~~
I love how author Tish Thawer weaves in the characters of Odin and Loki alongside Heaven, Hell, and Purgatory in this action-packed story of Reapers, Gods, Devils. The Woman of Purgatory Series as a whole is a thrilling ride from beginning to end. Holli/Hel is a badass reaper and ice queen in one powerful woman and this is her story.
Thankfully the author seamlessly weaves in a recap so readers will not have a problem picking up where Book 2 ended. Holli's Hellfire is fast-paced, emotional, and a thrilling end to the series. I could not put it down.
