“Come in!” I yell, rinsing the coffee cup out, turning around to find him behind me. His dark hair is curling out from below the baseball hat he has on, and his black T-shirt hugs his arms and chest in all the right ways. And don’t even get me started on those damn Wranglers. Worn and tight. Looking up, his blue eyes are filled with laughter and I know I’ve been caught.

“Morning,” he greets, and I can’t help myself. Laughing, I rush over and give him a hug, burying my face into his chest, the smell of his cologne heaven.

“Where’d you go?” I ask, pulling away from him. He brushes my wet hair off my face, his fingers playing with the strands.

“Went home to shower. Wasn’t sure how you’d feel about me using yours and I didn’t want to wake you up to ask.”

My eyebrows raise in surprise. “Are you even real?”

Garret starts cracking up, then kisses the top of my head before stepping past me to toss a bag on the counter. “Of course I’m real.”

“I don’t think you are. You’re like, a book boyfriend come to life.”

“A what?” He laughs even harder.

“A book boyfriend. You know, the hero in romance novels who is all swoony, and alpha, and perfect? He always gets the girl because he’s this amazing guy who knows all the right things to say and do. He’s just the definition of a romantic boyfriend.”

Garret crosses his arms over his chest and leans against the kitchen counter. “So, what you’re telling me is, is I’m perfect?”

“Only if you take me out for breakfast,” I chide, resting my hands on my hips.

“Now that I can definitely do.”

Hi, I'm Jo. Let's forget all the "Jo Michaels is blah, blah, blah" stuff and just go with it. I'm a voracious reader (often reading more than one book at a time), a writer, a book reviewer, a mom, a wife, and one of the EICs at INDIE Books Gone Wild. I have an almost photographic memory and tend to make people cringe at the number of details I can recall about them and/or their book(s). â€œHave you seen their prices?â€

â€œYeah, but itâ€™s not like your family is hurting for cash. What does it matter?â€ She sat up and threw the scarf back on the rack. It hit the metal, paused for a second, and slowly slid to the floor.

Evie bent over to pick it up and hang it properly as she answered, â€œEver wonder why weâ€™re not destitute? My parents are super frugal.â€

â€œYou guys are the definition of yuppies.â€

With a sigh, she shrugged and waved her hand. â€œFine. Letâ€™s go to the swimsuit store.â€

They stopped off at the coffee shop for a couple of lattes on the way. One of the baristas took the girlsâ€™ orders, and they moved to the end of the counter to wait while he fixed their drinks.

â€œGirl, he was eying you hard,â€ Shana said.

Evie turned back to look at the guy again, and she couldnâ€™t stop the quirk of her lip when she saw him glance up, turn red, and go back to what he was doing. He was cute in a boy-band kind of way. His blond hair curled at the ends and was just long enough to graze the tops of thick eyebrows over honey brown eyes. She turned away when he looked at her again, and she grinned at Shana.

â€œI told you so.â€

â€œAnd?â€

â€œHeâ€™s fine as hell. If you donâ€™t get his number, Iâ€™m going to.â€ Putting her hand on her hip, she pursed her lips and widened her eyes.

â€œNo, youâ€™re not, and neither am I. We have stuff to do.â€

Dracula has always been sexy and suave in all the books and movies, but Rourke's Dracula is HAWT! Vlad has old school charm, a bit if awkwardness, and is simply swoon worthy. He fills out a three piece suit like a GQ cover model. (Rarrr)

Rourke weaves in Vlad's backstory seamlessly; and its not the overdone version either. Her version while steeped in history has her own twist.

The wit and snark of Vincenza is ever present in Vlad. She is one of my favorite characters.

Vlad is quite the page turner. I read it in one day! Secrets are revealed to Vincenza. Life altering decisions are made. There's romance! (Did I tell you how HAWT Vlad is?) And the ending!!!!! Hold on to your seats cause hell hath no fury like a scorned woman. ALL HAIL THE QUEEN!

The first year was the hardest. Everywhere I turned, I saw him. Everything reminded me of him, of the trip we took together. The time we shared together that summer. The one night that changed the rest of our lives.

Wyatt was my life, and then my parents ripped me from him.

I should have been stronger.

I should have fought harder.

Iâ€™ve had the opportunity to try and make amends, but my fears have held me back.

Emily Cyr is a stay-at-home mom turned writer. She holds a degree in middle grades education with certification in English and social science.
