On an island bordering the coast of South Carolina, a convention is planned for "Catch Me" game enthusiasts. The game, designed by Stuart Harrington, wealthy businessman, is the genius behind the hottest game craze. But only ten guests are able to arrive before Brian, a category four hurricane, makes landfall. Lois Steinberg washes ashore on the beach. Amongst strangers, she has no idea who to trust and when Paul, the cook, is found murdered, events happen too eerily reminiscent of any "Catch Me" game that Stuart Harrington could ever conceive.

~~~My Review~~~
I have to admit that at first I wasn't sure that I would enjoy this audiobook because
of the multiple narrators and sound effects. I was worried with all the special effects and keeping up with all the different roles it would deter from the story with having so much to keep up with. While at first I found it distracting, it did not take longer before I was fully immersed in Catch me if You Can. The different narrators really did bring the story to life.
The author, Miss Mae, wove quite a twisted and shocking tale. Everyone at the inn was hiding something and most were not who they appeared to be. I would compare it to Murder on the Orient Express. I would love to see the authors outline and notes for this complex story.
I look forward to checking out other works by this author as well as the splendid group of narrators.
About the Author: Miss MaeMiss Mae is all about romantic mysteries. With her writing style compared to the likes of Agatha Christie, her books “Said the Spider to the Fly”, “When the Bough Breaks”, “Dove Island”, “It’s Elementary, My Dear Winifred” and “See No Evil, My Pretty Lady” are award winning best sellers. The novellas “Miss Penelope’s Letters”, and “Through a Glass Darkly” have received top rated five-star reviews. Her latest murder mystery, “Catch Me If You Can”, in audio format, has won the platinum award in the 2017 Hermes Creative International Competition. Tantalizing trailers, and more information, is readily available at her website.
She’s also penned three tales in the ‘Ahoy, Mischaps!’ children’s/humor series. Book #1 is “Ahoy, Gum Drop!” followed by Book #2 “Ahoy, Out There!” with Book #3, “Ahoy, Mummy Mia!” In these slightly cracked stories, readers are introduced to a cast of intriguing, extraordinary and downright bizarre characters, accompanied by the one and only I.B. Nosey, the ‘official unofficial’ reporter. To learn more about the ‘Mischaps’ and cyberspace’s only Pukelitzer Award winning interviewer, visit ‘Feeling Nosey?’
Victoria Flynn's A Soul's Sacrifice
At the close of each year i reflect back over what I have read and who or what stood out for me. This year my breakout author will be Victoria Flynn with A Soul's Sacrifice. As debut books go, Flynn nailed it. I was intrigued from the very beginning. She had a strong opening hook.
I find voodoo and New Orleans very fascinating. A Soul's Sacrifice by Victoria Flynn brings both together in this fast paced, paranormal romance.
The characters. OMG everyone has secrets and no one should be taken at face value. The romance. Flynn turns a hot Louisiana night in the bayou into sizzling, sex on a dock. Fan me now.
I am eagerly awaiting to start the next book in this series!
Lakyn James is sixteen years old and hating every second of it. He was supposed to be done, he'd tapped out. End of story, unsubscribe here. Suicide "attempt", they said. His intentions had no "attempt" in them.
Re-entering normal life after ‘trying’ to take his own is weird. Especially when the world keeps going like it never happened. He still has to eat breakfast, go to school, and somehow convince a cute boy that he’s too damaged to date.
Scott White comes with his own problems, namely a habit of drinking too much and being indecisive about rather he wants in the closet, or out of it. Lakyn can’t stand him; he also can’t help smiling when Scott’s around.
Unfortunately - or fortunately - for Lakyn, life has decided to give him a second chance. He's not happy about it, but maybe, with a lot of hard work and a good therapist, he can learn to be. And maybe he can hold Scott’s hand at the same time.
No promises though.
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
When I first started this book I didn't know if I was going to be able to finish it. I put it down for a while (5 or 6 days) before picking it back up again. This book was so full of raw pain. Sometimes we forget what it's like to be a teenager, life is hard. Lakyn had it worse than most, but his story was so powerful! We are NOT alone no matter what we may think at times. There is always someone, never give up.
Goodreads Debut Author of the Month and an Indie Next Pick!
“Sullivan’s debut is a page-turner featuring a heroine bookseller who solves a cold case with clues from books—what is not to love?” —Nina George, author of The Little French Bistro, and the New York Times bestselling The Little Paris Bookshop
When a bookshop patron commits suicide, his favorite store clerk must unravel the puzzle he left behind in this fiendishly clever debut novel from an award-winning short story writer.
Lydia Smith lives her life hiding in plain sight. A clerk at the Bright Ideas bookstore, she keeps a meticulously crafted existence among her beloved books, eccentric colleagues, and the BookFrogs—the lost and lonely regulars who spend every day marauding the store’s overwhelmed shelves.
But when Joey Molina, a young, beguiling BookFrog, kills himself in the bookstore’s upper room, Lydia’s life comes unglued. Always Joey’s favorite bookseller, Lydia has been bequeathed his meager worldly possessions. Trinkets and books; the detritus of a lonely, uncared for man. But when Lydia flips through his books she finds them defaced in ways both disturbing and inexplicable. They reveal the psyche of a young man on the verge of an emotional reckoning. And they seem to contain a hidden message. What did Joey know? And what does it have to do with Lydia?
As Lydia untangles the mystery of Joey’s suicide, she unearths a long buried memory from her own violent childhood. Details from that one bloody night begin to circle back. Her distant father returns to the fold, along with an obsessive local cop, and the Hammerman, a murderer who came into Lydia’s life long ago and, as she soon discovers, never completely left. Bedazzling, addictive, and wildly clever, Midnight at the Bright Ideas Bookstore is a heart-pounding mystery that perfectly captures the intellect and eccentricity of the bookstore milieu and will keep you guessing until the very last page.
Midnight at the Bright Ideas BookstoreMidnight at the Bright Ideas Bookstore by Matthew J. Sullivan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
So this was a pretty amazing mystery. It always kept me wondering. This bookstore though! Everyone bookworms (or BookFrogs) dream! Ok moving on, back to the mysteries. There are 2 in this story, at first the flashbacks were a little confusing (no italics or warnings at the start of the chapter) but it was easy enough to tell Lydia from Little Lydia. Older Lydia gets annoying at times but really can you blame her for what she went through? THE survivor, that had to mess her up pretty bad. I would suggest this book to any book lover, or mystery reader. This had it all.
A Heartwarming Christmas: A Boxed Set of Twelve Sweet Holiday RomancesA Heartwarming Christmas: A Boxed Set of Twelve Sweet Holiday Romances by Melinda Curtis
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Book 1: Coming Home to Christmas Town
The Comeback Christmas by Melinda Curtis ~ This is a great Christmas story about hitting rock bottom and coming back up from it. Loved it! I am enjoying learning about the Wright sisters.
Bells are Ringing by Anna J. Stewart ~ I really liked this, it was sweet. Everyone sees the love before the couple does. Sometimes you can't see what is right in front of your face.
A Home by Christmas by Anna Adams ~ I loved this one, it tied all the 3 novellas together at the end. Noelle tries so hard not to let David back in, but that's harder to do with his twins winning your heart.
All in all I really loved this book, I will be posting this review on Coming Home to Christmas Town also :-)
Book 2: The Fisher Brothers Christmas
The Christmas Bell by Carol Ross ~ This was cute. It was about trying to prove to everyone that we are NOT the same people we were in High School.
Making Up Under the Mistletoe by Cheryl Harper ~ I was wondering how Josh and Ivy's story would work since they were already married. This was a great twist. More about making up as the title points out :-)
My Christmas Hero by Amy Vastine ~ LOL I laughed so many times during this one. How much worse can one person's day get. Ask Jules, she had the WORST luck. But it gets worse before it gets better.
As a whole I loved it! Learning about the Fisher family was great. I will be adding this review to The Fisher Brothers Christmas.
Book 3: Gifts of the Heart
An Unexpected Gift by Tara Randel ~ Unexpected love, finding family, compromise. This story is full of feelings and hard choices.
A Gift of Home by Cari Lynn Webb ~ You can only hide for so long. Hope was hiding from her home town and the people in it. The big question was why? We kind of learned a little bit in An Unexpected Gift, but we get all the answers in this book.
His Christmas Gift by Leigh Riker ~ Forgiveness is what it's all about.
I really liked this bundle of books, I will also be posting my review on Gifts of the Heart.
Book 4: The Gingerbread Men
The Gingerbread Heart by Liz Flaherty ~ Loved it! What do you do after your life feels over? Raised your kids, took care of your husband and then mother while they were in their last stretch. What is there to come back to? Cass finds this struggle, she doesn't want to interfere in her grown kids lives. What does that leave for her? Ester suggests a job! And what a job it is. It's just what she needed. Life does go on.
The Gingerbread Pony by Patricia Bradley ~ It's funny how kids can bring people together. Mark and Lizzy are just trying to get their life sorted after finding each other. Little did Mark know that Amy, his high school sweetheart was the key to helping them bond.
The Gingerbird House by Rula Sinara ~ What a sweet story about loss and love. Finding your way back home. To a home you didn't even think was there.
This review will also be left on The Gingerbread Men.
Political propaganda would have us believe vampires are our friends. Fanged teddy bears misunderstood thanks to archaic lore. Activists picket for them to be welcomed into our society.
They claim vamps don't kill.
They preach we are safe.
They ... are dead wrong.
One year ago a hive slaughtered my family and left me for dead. Found by a team of scientists with their own agenda, I was forged into an unstoppable weapon.
I possess their strength, with none of their weaknesses.
I can move among them free from their crippling hunger.
I am their greatest threat.
Armed with this arsenal, vengeance will feed my desire to penetrate the seedy
EXCERPT
“Comparing us to aberrant criminals? How do you justify making such a bold leap?”
“With centuries of murders, torture, and feedings!” he exploded, hopping in his seat as if suppressing the urge to leap onto the tabletop and douse me with holy water. “All of these vile acts have been committed under the teachings of your demonic demi-god, Vlad Draculesti. Your immortal Lord Impaler.”
One corner of my mouth tugged back in a knowing smirk. “And no one has ever killed, maimed, or committed genocide in the name of Christ?”
“It’s a sorry argument to use our history against us!”
“Yes, it is!” I vehemently agreed. “And yet that is exactly what humans subject us to. You fault us for the mistakes our kind has made in the past, mocking our deity without truly understanding his teachings. Meanwhile, you fetishize our culture and use it in your foreplay. Statistically speaking, human on human deaths outweigh vampire-on-human deaths twenty-three hundred to one. And why is that? Because humans take their passions too far, while when we pair with a human we focus on building a lasting relationship built on trust, safety, and security.”
“Humans you keep around for feeding and screwing!” my opponent hollered, spittle bubbling in the corners of his mouth. “You’re vicious killers!”
“My apologies to our viewers for that use of inappropriate language,” the prim and poised moderator stated into the camera before fixing her critical gaze on the frothing conservative. “Mayor Donaldson, I again ask you to control these outbursts or we will have no choice but to conclude our debate.”
Before his mouth could open to protest further, I leaned in and caught him with my narrowed gaze. “Show me proof. Where is the recorded documentation of these crimes you’re accusing us of? I tell you what, while you hunt to find that, I will wander into any costume shop or Halloween store and snag a set of fangs and a gothic cape that misrepresent us as night prowling fiends. The so-called facts you are basing your viewpoint on are myths formulated by your own kind to make us these legendary creatures that go bump in the night. Thank you, for granting me more power than I can fathom. That said, you should know I can’t turn into a bat, I spend as much time in front of the mirror as the next gal, and I enjoy a few extra shakes of garlic on my pasta. I’m not a monster, Mayor Donaldson. I am a vampire citizen who wants the same rights you take for granted.”
Days Gone Bad (Vesik 1) by Eric Asher
5/5
This author and this series came highly recommended from several of my friends.  They definitely did not steer me wrong. I loved how the author intertwined the macabre with wit and sarcasm.  His characters are deep, complex, and each of their backstories could easily be a spin off series.  I am fascinated with the world Asher has created and  look forward to seeing where this series and these characters go.
Now while I normally do not compare authors I have to say that I find Eric Asher's style very similar to that of Stacey Rourke's.  While Asher's series is a unique tale I find his use of humor and sarcasm to break up scenes very much like Rourke's.  If you are a fan of her Legends Saga I highly recommend you check out the Asher's Vesik Series; and vise versa.
