Deb has been married to her husband for going on 14 years. They've always had rescued pets, and at the moment, they have 4 cats. She was born and raised in central Florida. She loves the warm temperatures. She's worked in retail for almost 17 years, but if she were able to do anything she wanted, she would be a full-time reader, writer, and fur-baby mom. She has always been a big reader, and writing was something she started late in high school, but she began to dabble in it again once she discovered fanfic in 2009. Since then, she's read and written plenty in her spare time, especially since she cannot watch a TV show or a movie without thinking about how she could write a story like it.

Their laughter grows louder,
Their little feet patter.
Don't make them angry
Or your world will shatter.

There's no where to go.
Chills run down your spine.
No where to run,
And no where to hide.

To them it's a game,
And you're the next pawn.
Play it correctly,
You'll make it till dawn.

One mistake
And it all ends.
Don't mess up.
Or you'll meet their friend.

This was a pretty quick read, aimed more for kids. I really liked it though! My son seems to get scared pretty easily so I won't read it with him just yet :-) If your kids like Goosebumps then this is a must read! This story kind of hit close to home for me. We have a "haunted" orphanage about an hour from here that I always heard stories about in High School, kids also went exploring as much as they could there (or so they said!). I can't wait to see what else Martina Marie comes up with. Very well done!

Title: A Collateral Attraction
Author: Liz Durano
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Hosted by: Lady Amber’s PR
Blurb:
Identical twins, Billie and Blythe Delphine, used to be close—until a misunderstanding tore them apart.
Years later, in an attempt at reconciliation, Billie joins Blythe in New York for a vacation. But their reunion is cut short when the twins are caught in a battle between two brothers, Ethan and Heath Kheiron, fighting over control of the family fortune. To make matters worse, Blythe runs off with Ethan just as Billie learns that her sister’s about to be accused of a crime she knows Blythe did not commit.
To find her, Billie will need to work with the one man Blythe blames for all of Ethan’s troubles, Heath Kheiron.
But even as Billie finds herself thrust into the world of money, not even the most extravagant shopping sprees and private island retreats can hide the years of unresolved differences between the twins, or the decades of lies that have left the Kheiron family divided. And as Billie and Heath fight the growing attraction between them, they know there’s another player in the game who wants it all, and until the twins and the brothers settle their differences, they’re all in danger.
Will Billie reach her sister in time and get them both out of harm’s way? Or will she–and her heart–be collateral damage in a dangerous game where anyone is expendable?
Though Liz studied journalism in college, she discovered that she preferred writing romantic fiction over news and ad copy. She lives in Southern California with her family where she spends her days writing, chasing after her 6-year old, and stepping over Legos.

While Blythe is in the back room having her dress fitted to her measurements, I’m enjoying my second glass of wine when the front doors burst open, and a man strides in. He’s dressed in an immaculately tailored suit that can’t hide a broad chest and slim waist, his long strides emphasizing muscled thighs and long legs. He’s like a Greek god with dark hair and piercing steel blue-gray eyes, a strong jaw and full lips, and the way he moves reminds me of a panther, smooth and stealthy.
The wine has probably made me act bolder than I usually am, though when his gaze sweeps across the room and our eyes meet, my confidence falters. I look down into my glass, suddenly wishing I’m invisible, not that it helps, for he’s seen me and now he’s striding purposefully towards me.
One of the employees, a young woman with a pixie hair cut that reminds me of Twiggy, meets him halfway. “May I help you, sir?”
“I’m here to speak to her,” he says, pointing his finger at me. I look up at him, startled. Me?
Do I know him? I struggle to remember if I’ve seen him before, maybe someone Blythe introduced me to sometime between my arrival and right now, but I come up empty.
“I’m sorry, sir, but we’re in the middle of a private event, and I’ll have to ask you to leave,” the young woman says, and just like that, I swear the temperature in the room turns cold as his gaze sweeps along the length of her.
“Obviously you’re new. Do you know who I am?” Before she can answer, Alicia appears next to her, smiling sweetly.
“Mister Kheiron! I didn’t expect to see you here today.”
“Alicia, how are you?”
“I’m well, thank you for asking. I sincerely apologize for this young lady’s manners. Amelie is new, you see, and isn’t yet familiar with our regular clients. In fact, Blythe recommended her, “Alicia says, before turning to face the young woman, who’s just turned white as sheet. ”
“Shouldn’t you be stocking inventory?”
As Amelie scurries to the back room, the man walks past Alicia and continues to make his way towards me. I set my wine glass on the coffee table and stand up. Based on mean he is, this must be the infamous Heath Kheiron. Then I wonder if we’ve overcharged the Gold Card by mistake.
As he stops in front of me, I smell his cologne and my nostrils flare, the hairs at the back of my arms standing on end. Even my belly tightens. Citrusy with a hint of spice.
“Where is he?” he asks, his voice cold and deep.
I glance around, as if confirming that he is talking to me.
“Who?”
“Don’t ’who’ me,” he says through gritted teeth as he draws closer.
“Where is Ethan?”
“I don’t know,” I stammer, confused and not understanding his anger.
“We’re meeting him for dinner-“
“When you see him, tell him to call me,” he says just as the realization hits me.
He thinks I’m Blythe!
“No, wait! You’re wrong! I’m not Blythe! I’m-”
“Yeah, right,” he scoffs, grabbing my wrist, and this time his voice lowers as he addresses me.
“Tell Ethan to give back what he stole, or I’m making sure that everything will be taken away from him — his spending accounts, his access to company properties,” he pauses, lifting an eyebrow as he looks at me.
“Even you, Blythe.”
The way he looks at me makes me wither inside. It’s cold and demoralizing, like he’s appraised me from behind his blue-gray eyes and I came up short.
“For your information, mister,” I say as I yank my wrist away from him, “I am not a thing.”
Heath eyes me, as if surprised that I actually can speak, and then he chuckles, as if I just said something funny.
“You’re not a thing, is that it? You’re not this thing for my brother to dress up and primp like some doll on display — like he’s doing now?”
He bites his lower lip, and shakes his head, as if he’s the one who’s perplexed. But clearly, by the words that follow, he’s not. “It’s time to wake up and smell the roses, dear Blythe, because as far as I’m concerned, that’s exactly what you are to me — a thing. Now where is Ethan?”
This time, I’m too shocked to say anything back, but Alicia comes to my rescue.
“I need you to leave, Mister Kheiron. This behavior is inexcusable.”
“Don’t worry. I’m done here, Alicia,” Heath says before turning his attention back to me.
“Tell Ethan he’s got till tomorrow to explain himself, or he’s going to end up with a bigger problem in his hands — and I believe you know what I’m talking about, Blythe. And tell him that once I notify the board of what’s been happening, he’ll have nothing to his name — nothing. Neither will you.”
“Mister Kheiron!” Alicia’s voice is shrill now and two men in dark suits seem to magically appear next to her.
“Good day, Alicia,” Heath says, nodding his head curtly, before turning to address me, the bow of his head mocking me.
“And you, too, Blythe. Enjoy your shopping spree.”
I can’t even say anything back at him, not when the way he looks at me decimates me into someone who clearly is not worth anything in his eyes. I feel Alicia’s hand rest on my arm as Heath turns away and walks out of the store.
“I’m so sorry, dear,” Alicia says.
“Are you alright?”
I nod.
“I guess when tycoons have a bad day, they really do have a bad day, don’t they?”

ARYAN
He was wide awake and on his feet before he knew why. The interior of the barn was warm and humid from the exhalations of the five men and cattle, yet he knew what had awoken him lay outside.
“What is it chief?” Bojan whispered.
“I’m not sure. Maybe nothing.”
Bojan’s lips turned down. “You don’t believe that.”
“No. No I don’t. Wake the others, quietly.”
Bojan snorted. “And Fen?”
“A swift kick up the ass and a hand over his mouth to staunch his yelp should suffice.”
The two men exchanged a conspiratorial look. Fen was, and always had been, a heavy sleeper. Aryan recalled a time they had dressed him in female robes and painted his face with rouge and kohl, all while he slept. The horror on his face when he had realized what they had done still brought a chuckle to his throat. Right now the chuckle was ominously absent. Fen, more than the rest of them, was struggling with what they had become, and Valesea’s position as the source of all evil didn’t aid him in coping. She was the woman Fen had loved.
Aryan strapped on his weapons belt, shrugged on his furs, and moved on stealthy feet toward the barn doors. The gaps in the planks that made up the entrance were wide enough to gain a good view of the outside.
He scanned the yard; the tall tree in the center standing majestically, its naked arms a dark map against the moonlit sky; the small farmhouse, silent and sleeping. It was strange, the darkness, the moonlight. It made everything seem so . . . peaceful. His brows met; maybe he had dreamt the disturbance. He made to turn away, preparing his apology to his tired men when a figure broke from the shadows surrounding the farmhouse and moved low and fast toward the barn. More shadows came to life, breaking away from the mass one by one and stealing across the open stretch of ground.
Aryan stepped back, reaching for his sword and grasping air. Crud! He’d forgotten he’d lost his sword to a possessed tree.
“Chief?”
Aryan looked up as Bojan drew his sword and handed it over. Aryan hesitated a moment but Bojan simply grinned, reaching over his shoulder to draw his mace.
Aryan matched his grin, taking the proffered sword. Around him the barn had come to life. His men were ready and if they went down they would do it fighting.
“How many?” Fen asked rubbing his backside absently, all sleep chased away by the imminent threat.
“Seven, maybe more,” Aryan said.
“Crud!”
“We can take them,” Cadoc said with a conviction that made Aryan’s chest swell with pride.
“Guru. Climb up to the loft and hide. Do not come out until one of us comes for you,” Bojan instructed.
Guru’s face had drained of color, yet he swallowed and held his ground. “Give me a weapon, I want to help.”
He was no coward this one, but his valor would serve no purpose in this fight. His slight body would be mere kindling to their attackers.
Aryan offered a smile to soften the rejection. “Thank you friend, we respect your courage, but we need you alive if we are to find our destination.”
Guru’s jaw jutted in defiance. Aryan stared him down. Guru’s shoulders slumped and Aryan turned back to the doors knowing at least one battle had been won.
There was only one way in or out, no windows except the one high in the loft.
“Brace yourselves,” Aryan said.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really liked this book! At some points it seemed like a little too much description but by the end WOW, I am so happy I bought the second one this morning! This is a twist on the paranormal that I have never read before, I am still newish to paranormal but this was really good! The characters are well developed, and it is very clear whose point of view each chapter are in. The transitions were wonderful also! Very well done! Now to start the next book in the series! I don't picture getting alot done this weekend. No complaints there!

Excerpt, book one: Uncertain:
"Carefully placing each foot, Valen skirted the hedges, stepping in and out of the little fairy gardens planted by tiny fingers that decorated most of the front yard. There were strings of long, silver Christmas tinsel around the mailbox and across the porch of the bright yellow house. When the wind blew, the little bits of metal refracted the light and made the place cheery and whimsical. At least, they once had.
Valen could smell death: the specific scent of rot and burst intestines that sent cadaver dogs into a frenzy. It leaked from the house like the waft of blossoms from a gardenia tree. It hung in the air for anyone to recognize. Not that many would come here without purpose. There wasn't much traffic down the small country dirt road marked Wilder Way. Prairie weeds flowered in waving fields for miles in most directions. Jackson, Ohio was a small town with only three day cares.
Two now, Valen winced at the correction."

Steam (Legends Saga, #3)Steam by Stacey Rourke
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Steam just may be the best of the three in the Legends Saga. It combines 2 of my favorite things, Sleepy Hollow and the Salem Witch Trials. Rourke does a fantastic job weaving two very different tales simultaneously into one. Steam is a poetic nightmare. It weaves a dark, twisted, and vile tale that underneath lies a beautiful love story. HG Wells will do anything to get back the wife he lost to the city of Roanoke. Noah is battling the Hessian within Ireland to claim back the woman he loves. All while the story of Preen Hester and the Salem witch trials is being woven in. The entire story plays out before the reader in heart pounding fashion. My pulse quicken, my breath caught, my knuckles whiten with the intensity of the each page. I could not look away.

Fans of the Legends Saga will not be disappointed in Steam. The charming, yet frightening Ireland Crane does not disappoint. She is my favorite returning character in the series because despite being host to the diabolical Hessian, Ireland is witty, spunky, and you have to root for her. Preen’s story is tragic. There is no good way to spin it. She was played liked a fiddle and her fate was sealed from the beginning. Her story adds the perfect twist to the story.

The Legends Saga is the stuff of nightmares and Steam is the scariest of all. How does such an adorable little pixie like Stacey Rourke come up with such things? After completing Raven (Book 2), Rourke was quoted as saying “writing about Poe took me to some pretty dark places, I had to write Adapted For Film to lighten things up.” So I ask you Mrs. Rourke, after writing this nightmarish tale, how do you bounce back? Should we expect unicorns and rainbows in your next story? I think most of your fans will agree we need a little something light hearted after living through Steam.

Time passes, sins forgotten.
The bodies of the victims long since rotten.

Trapped within the essence of the Headless Horseman by the guilt of slaughtering her best friend, Ireland Crane follows the father of science fiction, HG Wells, in search of freedom from the curse that binds her. Instead, she discovers even he has a hidden agenda. A dark, relentless passion to be reunited with the woman he loves has driven him to manipulate time and a murderous Horseman.

Yet heed my warning, as the Raven flies,
The Hessian will come … and you will die.

All that prevents Ireland from abandoning Wells’ twisted pursuit, or introducing him to her sword, are the undead witches haunting her. Begging for freedom from a vile succubus, the ghoulish coven leads Ireland and her crew on a journey through Salem’s sordid past. There, they learn there is more to Nathaniel Hawthorne’s history than a scarlet letter, and the secret they’ve uncovered seeks to destroy them all.
