Raised in a little village in North Wales, a fierce love of books and reading was instilled in Eleanor by her parents from a very early age, and she has vivid memories of reading secretly under the blankets with a torch for hours after lights out, often getting caught! She was blown away by The Borribles Trilogy - Michael De Larrabeiti at nine years old, and it was then that she fell head over heels with idea of imaginary worlds.

A persistent and professional daydreamer, something she still prides herself on being, she spent most of her early childhood inside her own head making up stories or scenarios, climbing trees, building dens or doing anything arts and crafty. Music also played a huge part of her young life. Growing up on The Beatles, U2 and Status Quo, her obsession with Top of the Pops and vinyl twelve inches grew into a love affair with music that has only grown and expanded over time: there is rarely a moment where music is not playing in her life, and in turn, rarely a time when she is not singing, even if it is in her head!

She had always thought she would write a book some day - it has been an ambition for as long as she can remember - and has always been told that she â€˜has a way with wordsâ€™. The Creeping by Alexandra Sirowy is a difficult book to review without spoilers. You guys know I don’t do spoilers. You are just going to have to take my word for it and read this book.
I gave this novel 4 stars because of the characters. The storyline itself once it took hold was greatness; a straight out of Hollywood movie. Let me see if I can explain myself.

As an adult reading a YA novel I found the characters to just awful, hateful, bitches. I even considered dropping the book. I know teenage The Creeping by Alexandra Sirowy is a difficult book to review without spoilers. You guys know I don’t do spoilers. There was not one redeemable quality in these girls. I know characters have to grow and all but it was such a turn off for me. It wasn’t until around chapter ten or so that I could notice a change in the MC, Stella. Why am I telling you? Because I don’t want you to be put off by the beginning and not read this book. I am telling you it is worth it. I saw other readers’ reviews that were put off by the characters too but trust me; look past that.

Now to tell you about the story itself! The Creeping makes the Boogie Man look like a soft, cuddly kitten. These are the stories your grandparents told you keep you in line. I grew up hearing a tale similar to this too. The Creeping weaves in Norse folklore, mysterious disappearances, and murders going back decades. At the age of six, Stella witness the disappearance of her friend Jeanie. Unfortunately she has no memory of it. Fast forward to the summer before Stella’s senior year and the finding of body of a young child, who looks eerily similar to Jeanie, on the anniversary of Jeanie’s disappearance. Creepy! Stella is trying to recall her memories of that fateful day and why she kept repeating “don’t go looking for monsters cause you just might find them” over 200 times.

The Creeping weaves together an emotional, mysterious, supernatural tale that left me afraid to take the dogs out in the dark. Hearing twigs crack and leaves rattle in the dark took on a whole new meaning. It will also leave you wondering if the Creeping is real or just a tale used to cover up decades of unexplained events.

Nerves were on edge. This meeting with Lone Star had been hard enough to arrange, and they were already late in establishing connection. So much was riding on its success. â€œDamn it! Give me a minute.â€ Curtis frantically clicked the keys at his station and mumbled more curses.

Collectively, the room took a hesitant breath. Mira wasnâ€™t the only one feeling the pressure. It seemed she was sharing it equally. Everyone knew how much hinged on things going smoothly.

She gritted her teeth, sending the tips of her fangs poking into her bottom lip. Patience was a virtue sheâ€™d not been gifted with. She stared forward, hoping to appear determined, but inside her stomach was still churning with anxiety while she waited for the images to process. For all she knew, the other side could already see her though she had yet to view them.

The screen lit up, a window into another office. An ornate iron gate swirling with an intricate vine pattern and a silver star set between its two sides had been embroidered on a blue flag that covered the wall behind a large mahogany desk â€”the symbol of the capitol of the Iron Gate. An official-looking office for sure, but the person who walked on screen after the connection had been established was not the man sheâ€™d expected to see.

â€œGreetings, New Haven,â€ a man addressed the room rather than Mira specifically. A deliberate sign of disrespect that was not lost on Mira, and by the low growl coming from Strykerâ€™s throat, hadnâ€™t been missed by her council member either.

Strykerâ€™s posture straightened. He and Mira exchanged sidelong glances, silently acknowledging the slight against her as well as noting that the true Magistrate, if he could be called that, was not in attendance. That was strike one. The meeting was off on the wrong foot before it had even begun.

Through the window of the Viewscreen, Mira studied her new opponent. No man of highborn air would slouch the way he did. Even with half his body hidden by the meticulously carved wooden desk, his posture screamed, plebe. His clothes, while the traditional purple robe of the Elite class, were also a dead giveaway of his low status: he wore his official robe like a jacket over a plain fighters tunic, a simple linen that was barely more than a rag.

She had never been given the opportunity to have a sense of fashion and even for her, his choice in attire was ridiculous. This had to be a joke, or more poignantly, the truth of how lowly Lone Starâ€™s Magistrate regarded New Haven and its council.

Lone Star was the largest of the cities and had been home to the previous Magistrate. It, and its sister city, Bay View, were the last two of the Iron Gate cities to refuse to sign the treaty.

â€œWhere is your Regent?â€ Mira hissed with impatience.

On the other side of the screen, the pretender, locked eyes with her and a sneer curled his lip. He sat taller in his chair, mimicking proper Elite posture, and glared straight ahead into the Viewscreen. At least he gave the appearance of being Elite now. Still, Mira wasnâ€™t about to put up with his bullshit.

After a few silent moments, he spoke, â€œOur illustrious Magistrate does not recognize leeches. You will have to deal with me, Regent Marshal Ballard.â€

When last we saw Mira, things were going pretty good! They had just freed the vampires and united some of the Iron Gate cities, things were looking up! But do things ever stay that good when there is such evil in the world as we see in the Iron Gate citiesâ€¦..not a chance. This book had me enraptured! Mira is starting to come out of her shell and give a little more to her sweet and wonderful Stryker! But the struggles of being a leader may be too much for her. She is a fight to survive, take action kind of girl, and all this â€œtalkingâ€ is just not working for her. We also get to a deeper glimpse into Justine, George, Lucian and Stryker here too, plus we get to know Katerina, the alpha fox as well, and it is awesome! There is non stop action and goodness here, but warningâ€¦.you will be itching to get your hands on the next and final book in the series! I may have screamed a little in frustration at the end that it was over, ahh the torture! ;) I donâ€™t know if my finger nails will survive the wait for the conclusion of this intriguing and original tale! So many questions and Iâ€™m hanging onto the edge of my seat to find out.
