Ding Dong Is She Dead? Book #1 Nova Ladies Adventures amzn.to/1wq5w2l
Excerpt from Death By Poison Book #2
Everyone had plenty of time to get the banner up and the tables decorated before the happy couple arrived.
Sally volunteered to be the lookout and let everyone know when they arrived. Mark waved everyone off, “I’ll be Sally’s partner to make sure we alert everyone.”
G.G. had the tablecloths and Megan walked over to help her. “Hey, G.G. are you excited Justin is going to pop the question?” Megan asked as she shook out the cloth and made sure her table was straight.
“Oh, yes. I will be so glad to have them tie the knot. I need more grandchildren, so they had better get with it.” G.G. placed the balloons with the words ‘Congratulations’ written on it in the center of each table.
“Hey, ladies does this look even?” Matt asked as he and James hung the banner over the bar.
“What do you think G.G.? Looks even to me.” Megan tipped her head to sideways to make sure.
“Same here. Boys be careful getting down from those ladders, we don’t want anyone to have an accident.” G.G. moved over to make sure the partition was pulled closed so that the family could hide behind it.
“Guys, we have ten minutes. Let’s hurry it up.” Megan checked her cell phone to make sure they had time.
G.G. was running around making sure it all looked perfect.
“That’s it everyone on the other side of the wall. Mark will you take the video camera and stand in the doorway to catch her expression?” G.G. was counting people to make sure no one was left out in the open.
“Sure thing.” Mark went to take the camera from her and moved into place.
Sally’s squeal, “They’re here.” caused everyone to hurry to their places.
Allie walked through the door expecting to see the floor covered in water from the leak.
“Hey Stan, where are you? I thought you said there was a flood in here.” Confused she started toward the bar until her eyes adjusted from outside and she saw the banner.
Justin followed her in waiting for her to notice and got down on one knee. In bold black letters it said, WILL YOU MARRY ME? Right underneath it in smaller blue letters were the words AND MY FAMILY?
Turning towards Justin with a look of astonishment, Allie turned to see him down on one knee. “Allie will you do me the honor of letting me love and protect you? I want to love and cherish you for the rest of your life. Will you marry me?” Justin looked hopefully up at Allie.
“Yes!!! Yes!!! I will marry you and your family.” Laughing, Allie looked up and saw the family together peeking through the partition trying to see.
“I’ll think I will keep all of you, no matter what, if you will have me?” Gesturing for them to come on out and join them.
Sally ran over and jumped into Justin’s arms, “I’ll marry you Uncle J, if she ever gets rid of you. I’m next in line.” All of the adults burst out laughing.
“Sally I promise if I ever decide to get rid of him you have first dibs.” Swinging her around in a circle.
“How about this, since you can’t have Justin for a husband, will you settle for being my flower girl?” Allie didn’t want Sally to feeling left out during the wedding rush.
“Duh, I thought you would never ask me.” Sally rolled her eyes at the question while the adults around her tried not to burst out laughing.

The Between Life and Death Series by Ann Christy

ZOMBIES! What a popular thing these days. I love Dystopia and Post Apoc reads, and The Walking Dead is my fav show, but I don’t read a lot of zombie books. I found Ann Christy on Band of Dystopian on Facebook, and loved her writing style on the different writing prompts, that is what first drew me to her. And the covers, they are great! So I dove in….oh…..my…gosh! I did not come up for air until the end of book 3! I didn’t even stop to write my reviews, I went directly to the next book, I just couldn’t stop. The books starts out with a bang, and you are trying to piece together what is going on, but everything is quickly cleared up and you are hooked right from page one. So much heartbreak, but the reality is there and undeniable. I was gripped and couldn’t stop giving my husband a play by play of how awesome and ingenious the idea and writing was. Deep and thought provoking, imagine if zombies had moments of memories of themselves…a moment of recognition, a fleeting piece of them left behind, are they still in there? Throughout the series we meet new people, awesome and horrible, but Emily and Veronica are the 2 main characters. The two have such a beautiful friendship, it is more like family. I love Veronica’s dedication to Emily. And through everything that Emily goes through, she sees it and recognizes it too. This series is wrapped up so wonderfully at the end! I love what Ann did with book 3! It was a refreshing ending that left me satisfied but longing for more! I don’t want to give anything away from how it is divvied out to you in the book, but I LOVE how this all turns out! Check out my reviews for all 3 books and go get yourself a copy. Have you already read them? If so, leave a comment telling us what you think.

The In -Betweener:

What can I say beside READ IT! It is going to be hard for me to put to words my feelings about this book/series......I simply adore it. Is it weird to say that about a zombie apocalypse book? Probably, but it's true. This book/series has simply everything you could possibly want from a book, and then some. For the first time in my life I did not write my review immediately after I finished this book, I had to read the next book, then the next one before I could do anything else, so alas, I have devoured this entire series and have now come back to write my review, I will try to sum up this fantastic book....
Starting out right off the bat we meet Sam, a very likable young man scouting out a place for the 5 children, who we meet briefly, that he is taking care of and hiding out with in the middle of the city during the zombie apoc. Scary stuff. Then we meet Emily.....let me take a moment to state that I freaking love this chick! Amazing and unimaginable, and horrible things proceed to happen, I laughed, I cried, then I cried a little more. Enter Veronica and Jon, amazing. Veronica is 16 or 17 I think, and Jon is 2 (it is 2 years into the apoc at this point) Veronica is not Jon's mother but has been acting as one all his life and saved him over and over again. This story line is ingenious! I don't want to say anything more and give anything away, because the way it is revealed and the information is divvied out to you is very wonderfully done. I love me some post apoc/dystopian reading, but I don't read a lot of zombies, but this zombie series will definitely be on my shelf! And now I'm curious to read more zombie stuff, and definitely more books by Ann Christy! I loved her writing in the writing prompts on BOD, that is why I chose this series as my next read. And I gotta say, I'm hooked!!

Forever Between

Wooowee....that was just....awesome! This whole series is one I couldn't put down! I had to read the entire series before I could break to write my review. In this book we follow Veronica, but Emily is still there...ish. Just so many emotions and crazy things happens here. We get to meet some new characters and get a glimpse into a new world and way of life. Jeremy is a pretty awesome character I want to give a little shout out to. This is no romance, but he helps put a little love and tummy flutters on a dire situation.
There may be possibility for a cure, but some "bumps in the road" could cause problems. Veronica is dead set on heading to the military hospital 80 miles away to find the nanites that could, maybe possibly hopefully, save Emily, and nothing is going to stop her. But what she finds there is more than she can imagine, and it changes everything, big time. Like book 1, this book is filled with amazing characters and back stories. Filled with shocking realities of what life would be like and the lows people will stoop to. Lots of emotions and plenty of laughs, which is refreshing in a story like this. Ann sure has a knack for making me love Emily even more in this one, she is simply adorable. I keep loving this series more and more!

Between Life and Death

What a roller coaster! The last book in the series and it is so full of crazy action and breathtaking moments, what a ride! I can’t stand that this is the last book tho, as perfect as it is. I need more! I need to know the in betweens (see what I did there) of the end. I feel that Ann Christy did leave so much room for future books for us, well, I can hope anyways. The very ending of this book is pure perfection. Everything is tied up so nicely, just thinking about it now makes my heart flutter and my tummy warm and fuzzy. I love that the end of a zombie apocalypse book ends this way and gives me these feelings. The good guys actually win. There is so much character building in this book. We really get to know each of the people that came to the group in book 2, and what amazing people they are. Plus we get to meet more wonderful, heroic people, and some major ‘A’ holes as well. The story line and little relationship hiccups are so realistic to some of the things we all think about but never really “talk about” like the smells and lack of privacy, the things we will see and have to do, and how scary love would be. So many different little things, that make you giggle and make you sad. True hardships and heartbreaking things are are dealt with and survived, and the writing is so brilliant and well done that you know what these people feel, and you feel like you are right there with them. My favorite part about the book is really something I don’t want to talk about because it is so brilliant! So wonderful I was shouting and fist pumping the air in my celebration and approval of how things ended up going down! I don’t want to ruin it for you readers, just know there is so much goodness here! As I sit here typing out my review, I Have the desire to go back and read the entire series again! Fingers and toes crossed for more in this series!

Title: Walkin’ on the Sun: The Official Smash Mouth Biography
Author: Paul Delisle
Genre: Rockography
Hosted by: Lady Amber's Tours
Blurb: Hello. My name is Paul DeLisle. I’m the guy who wrote this book. You've probably never heard of me. That's okay. Most people wouldn't know me from Adam. But, unless you've been living in a cloistered monastery for the last fifteen years, you have heard of my band. So begins the memoir of the creation, rise, and current state of the multi-platinum recording artist Smash Mouth as told by bassist Paul DeLisle. Well known for their hits “All Star,” “Walking on the Sun,” “Then the Morning Comes,” “Can’t Get Enough of You Baby,” and “I’m a Believer,” the band carried the spirit of a generation, but didn't stop there. Enjoy this behind-the-scenes look from Paul’s unique, there from the start, insider’s view.

There's an episode of Cheers where washed-up ball player Sam Malone, frustrated with either Diane or Rebecca, proclaims, "Y'know, most people don't know this ... but I’m famous!"
I love that line. I can totally relate. You see, I am a founding and continued member of the band Smash Mouth. Yet I am, proudly and alas, the bass player. I’m not famous. My band is.
From the beginning, Smash Mouth was set up as a democracy between four musicians and a manager, each player having an equal voice on band matters. Yet we were all fully aware and accepting of the fact that, as lead singer/frontman, Steve Harwell would be getting a disproportionate amount of attention. Seeing as he is the face and mouthpiece of Smash Mouth, you may be a little disappointed he didn't write this book.
But stay with me here. Because as you'll see, I have a unique vantage point: as one of only four original constituents, I’ve been involved in every aspect of the band since day one. Only Steve and I have trod every step of this Smash Mouth journey. Also, while traditionally under-recognized, the bass player himself sees everything. Plus I went to college. Who better to write a book about Smash Mouth?
That said, keep in mind this book is solely from my point of view. Steve, Greg, Kevin, and Robert would obviously have different takes on certain events. However, this book is simply intended as a comprehensive account of our rise to fame and continued success.

Excerpt

He walked out the door, glancing back at his aunts once more. Both of them were smiling his way, waving and watching him like a bunch of hawks. He started toward the gardens feeling Maggie's eyes on his back until he was out of her view.
It wasn't long before he came upon the grove, but his quest was soon forgotten.
For the second time in his life, he was brought to a standstill by the beauty in front of him. He caught sight of that long brown hair flowing over a creamy shoulder... that was shaking.
The air in Liam's lungs caught and he felt that tightness in his chest from before, when he heard a sniffle and saw the woman wipe under her eyes.
She was crying. This stunning, flawless woman was sobbing and he felt that tightness twist and pull until he couldn't just stand and watch any longer. Liam looked around to see who had hurt her, but no one else was in the grove. He was angry for her and heartbroken that a woman like her would ever have a reason to cry like that.
She was so wrapped up in her world that she never even heard him step into the grove. His footsteps on the grass were silent, but surely she would have heard him crashing through the trees. He watched her a moment longer, debating on whether to sneak away and leave her in peace or find out what was making her so sad and fix it for her.
His mouth decided for him.
"Tears don't belong on a face so beautiful."
She startled and immediately stood and backed away from him. Smart woman, but it was still frustrating to see that it was out of wisdom, not instinct. She regarded him warily before looking around to find that they were completely alone. The trees surrounding the grove were covering them from anyone who might be watching.
Liam normally wouldn't allow this type of situation to occur. He would have left her alone and gone to fetch Maggie to help. But this wasn't a normal situation and Liam couldn't help but feel drawn to the woman standing before him, looking like she was about to run.
"You don't need to be afraid of me, bird. I'll not harm you."
Her shoulders sagged for a moment of brief relief before she lifted them straight and jutted out her chin. Her show of strength was impressive, but Liam could see the unease in her eyes so he stayed where he was and let her have her space.
She cleared her throat and crossed her arms over her chest. "I am sorry if I am trespassing. Maggie told me to come here and it was just a beautiful place to sit and think."
Her voice sent a jolt of electricity straight into his gut. A husky sound that vibrated all the way down his spine and he couldn't stop himself from studying her lips as she spoke.
Good Lord, help me.
She quickly wiped the tears from her face and sniffed a few times before gaining her composure and lifting her chin once more. Liam had been right the day before, she was stunning up close. Tear stains on her cheeks, eyes red rimmed, nose red, lips red. If she was this beautiful crying, he was doomed when she was smiling.
The very idea of her was... impossible.
Her yellow dress didn't cling to the curves he knew would be there, but it gave a hint of a graceful womanly figure and the exposed skin of her chest beckoned his eyes. His lips thinned, cursing himself for being disrespectful and he looked down at her legs.
That didn't help at all.
Eyes, Liam. Look at her eyes.
After clearing his throat, he said, "You are not trespassing. It is a garden for the public, but no one comes in anymore."
"Well, that's a shame. It's breath taking," she said and dropped down to the small bench to sit once more.
Apparently she decided that he was harmless and he sighed with relief. Liam kept his distance, hoping he wouldn't startle her anymore than he already did. She turned her head to look at him with a sad grin.
"This is a nice place to sit and think. Feels secluded even though it isn't."
That voice. Raspy yet feminine. It sent another shock to his veins and his blood pumped harder. If she kept speaking, he would pass out from his suddenly improved circulation.
Liam stepped closer and caught a glimpse of the freckles running across her nose. A ray of sunshine crossed over her face as she found a comfortable position on the bench. She was not only breath taking, but she glowed with an aura that he had never seen before. She was sad, of that he had no doubt, but her presence exuded happiness. Like being this close to her could make everything in the world right again.
I should send her up north and see if that solves all these troubles, Liam thought to himself.
Those freckles. He needed to get closer and get a better look at them.
"Do you mind?" he asked, gesturing to the small spot of bench beside her.
Her eyes narrowed, red rimmed and only slightly puffy.
It felt like hours instead of seconds before she sniffled and nodded her head, a shy grin pulling at her lips. "Please. There isn't anywhere else to sit unless you favor the grass."
"Aye, I do, but I favor a beautiful woman more," he replied.
Her blush was devastating and it spread across her cheeks like the red of a summer sunset. Poetic, Liam. Very poetic.

Author Bio

I live in Morgan Utah with my husband, daughter, and dog, Kolo. I write as often as my active daughter will let me and my husband has the patience of a saint. I find inspiration from dreams, people I meet, and life experiences. When I write, I usually end up drinking one too many cans of Peace Tea, eating three too many Fruit by the Foot fruit snacks, and accidently kicking my pup and best buddy, Kolo, too many times since he loves to sleep under my desk at my feet.
I started writing as a teen, but my fear of the unknown won out every time and I threw everything out. After becoming a mother and deciding to stay at home to raise my beautiful little girl, I tried again when I couldn't stop thinking of ideas. I loved every minute, every hour of sleep lost, and every character that came to life in my mind.
It's strange, but my favorite moments are when I have writer's block because I can turn to my husband and find inspiration through him by just doing what we do best together. Talking, laughing, and just being in love. He doesn't like to read, but he never stops encouraging me to keep going.
Writing has become an important part of my life and every book has a special place in my heart.

In the picture-perfect community of Newport Beach, viole`nt crime is virtually non-existent—until the beautiful bookkeeper of Newport’s wealthiest family is found strangled in her bed. Johnny Barnes—loyal husband, dad, and philanthropist—is arrested for a murder he didn’t commit. He is released on $20 million bail, but the tide of public feeling turns rapidly against him: from the power-hungry DA to a perspicacious police detective to his own influential and unscrupulous in-laws. With his luck and resources running out, Barnes must battle a corrupt system to conduct his own investigation. His journey takes him from Montecito to North Dakota to Key—and draws him into adazzling and dangerous web of intrigue, self-dealing, exhortation, and murder. Racing against the odds and the clock, Barnes will be sent to prison—unless he is able to identify the true murderer and clear his name in time. Packed with heart-pound intrigue and exhilarating twists, Timothy Patten’s debut novel will leave you on the edge of your seat, begging for mercy — and begging for more.

Meet The Author

Picture

TIMOTHY PATTEN is retired, grew up in Highland Park, Illinois and graduated from University of Miami, Florida with a BBA and MBA in marketing. He volunteers and supports a few local charities in Orange County, California. Tim and his wife, Kathy live in Irvine, California for over twenty-seven years with their grown children and golden retrievers.

Did you have ambitions to write and publish prior to penning your debut novel?

It developed over the last few years, but when I was in college it was different because you had a certain subject to report on depending on the class I was taking at the time. Creating a novel from scratch is a unique project to undertake in your middle years. As I got older and after watching hundreds of films and TV shows, I felt like I could accomplish something in writing.

What is it about the mystery-thriller genre that you find most appealing?

The unknown of what people might do to benefit themselves at the expense of others. Whether it’s stealing money or murdering someone in your way. Inthis case, you really don’t know until the end who did it and why which to me makes it moresuspenseful.

Where did your inspiration for the book come from?

Primarily from watching TV shows and movies in the theater like NCIS, CSI, Criminal Minds or books that become movies like American Sniper or The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. My wife and I have seen several movies in the last year like Selma, The Birdman and The Homesman where we either walked out of the theater in the middle of the movie or turned off the Pay Per View because it was either boring or too crazy. So I guess that I am in a new phase in my life where I want to try and create a book or storyline versus just being the viewer or reader.

Who / what are your biggest literary influences?

I’d say it’s Tom Clancy for a while because of the novels that he wrote which became movies like The Hunt For The Red October or Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit which are more military subjects.  My Dad was a Marine in the Korean War and was stationed in both New Orleans and Camp Pendleton and we watched a lot of war movies growing up because it was part of the culture at the time after WWII, Korean War and the Vietnam War eras. I missed the Vietnam draft by less than a year and my wife and I still like watching war movies.

What did you enjoy most about writing MONEY, FAMILY, MURDER?

Watching the faces and hearing the comments from my family and friends after I gave them a copy and they read it because I never wrote a novel before and didn’t tell anyone about it until after our daughter was married in January. I didn’t want to spoil her special day and I knew that it could wait to quietly announce it.

What is the number one thing you want people to take away from your novel?

To enjoy the mysterious, thrilling storyline. I also want for them to pick in their minds who would be the actors and actresses playing the characters if itwas a movie.
