From the best-selling author of the Angela Panther series comes the contemporary romance novella: The Inn At Laurel Creek Do You Believe in Love at First Sight? Frustrated and hurt by the news of her ex-boyfriend's pending marriage to a virtual stranger, Carly escapes to a small-town bed and breakfast in the mountains of North Georgia to heal her wounded heart. At the inn, Carly meets struggling musician Ben, and their instant connection is undeniable. Even though she knows next to nothing about the sexy singer with the crooked smile and sensitive soul, that doesn't stop her heart from suddenly feeling like its home. Can Carly's newfound feelings survive when she discovers Ben isn't who he seems?

Review

Carolyn Ridder Aspenson certainly has a way with the English language. One of my favorite lines from the book is

“My relationship dropped further into the toilet and shortly thereafter, Matthew gripped the handle hard flushing it down into the bowels of relationship sewage.”

This novella oozes southern charm and hospitality. If this inn really exists; I need a week there. The author does a fantastic job of building up the story from page one. You will not be disappointed. You may even need a cold glass of sweet tea afterwards.

Children Shouldn's Play with Dead Things
By Martina McAtee
Published August 31, 2015

17 year old Ember Denning has made an art of isolating herself. She prefers the dead. She spends her days skipping school in old cemeteries and her nights hiding from her alcoholic father at the funeral home where she works. When her own father dies, Ember learns her whole life is a lie. Standing in the cemetery that’s been her sanctuary, she’s threatened by the most beautiful boy she’s ever seen and rescued by two people who claim to be her family. They say she’s special, that she has a supernatural gift like them…they just don’t know exactly what it is.

They take her to a small Florida town, where Ember’s life takes a turn for the weird. She’s living with her reaper cousins, an orphaned werewolf pack, a faery and a human genius. Ember’s powers are growing stronger, morphing into something bigger than anything anybody anticipated. Ember has questions but nobody has answers. Nobody knows what she is. They only know her mysterious magical gift is trying to kill them and that beautiful dangerous boy from the cemetery may be the only thing standing between her and death.

As Ember’s talents are revealed so are the secrets her father hid and those in power who would seek to destroy her. What’s worse, saving Ember has put her cousins in danger and turned her friend’s lives upside down. Ember must learn to embrace her magic or risk losing the family she’s pieced together.

5 STARS

This cover is da bomb!  I saw it first on Facebook & then when M&M Publicity did a feature on the author, I was sold.  Once you’ve read the book the cover will speak volumes. Trust me.  Whoever said “never judge a book by its cover” didn’t see Children Shouldn’t Play With Dead Things.

The Characters
Strip away all the supernatural and you’ve got average relatable teens.  The MC, Ember, just wants a family and to fit in.  Kai is struggling to be noticed by his perfect guy.  He just wants to be loved with the same passion he exudes.  Tristin is basically a moody teenager.  You gotta have a bad guy so enter Mace.  Add in channeling the dead, helping souls cross over, a banshee and a soul eater and you the makings of an epic story.  Oh, did I mention the werewolves and witches.  This book is a supernatural plethora of goodies.

The Story
Children Shouldn’t Play With Dead Things is full of twists and turns you will not see coming.  I laughed. I cried. I grieved.  I cried some more – dang it.  I held my breath and gripped the kindle. It really is a superb read.  I felt Embers emotions of confusion and frustration while learning how to harness her power.  I just wanted to slap Rhys for not loving Kai properly.

The Author
As debut novels go Martina McAtee NAILED IT! She weaves an epic, complicated, unique, paranormal tale with characters you love and a few you hate to love.  I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.

Third Time’s a Charm

Kisses, kindred spirits, and killings.
The three things that sum up a Christmas in
Crimson Cove. When Christmas break starts, everyone
assumes there will be an armistice.
But the killer thing about Christmas parties is someone
always spikes the eggnog.
Just when the girls think they have the pieces of the
puzzle falling into place, everything falls apart when a
third body lands on the pile.
And this person is someone no one expected to find dead.
Or find at all. Don't miss the suspenseful third book
in the Crimson Cove Mystery.

Lynn 5 Stars

The Crimson Cove Mysteries is a psychological, thrill ride from the deviant mastermind Tara Brown. Just when you think this story cannot get any more twisted, sadistic, and psychotic; it does!   Seriously, where does she come up with this stuff?  She makes me glad I am a poor introvert. Lol.

Third Times A Charm is book 3 in the Crimson Cove Mysteries and tells of the undoing of Sierra.  The terror, torture and payback just keeps escalating.  Will they ever get to the bottom of this insanity?  Tara Brown certainly knows how to weave a dark and twisted tale.  I cannot wait till the entire series is complete so I can read it all through again!

Cheree 5 Stars

Why do I torture myself this way! I gobble up anything with Tara Brown's name on it, and then I am left wanting... the next one!! If I didn't literally NEED her books like air, I would just wait until they are all out, but no, I can't without risk of death. So I read, love, and wait. Impatiently I might add.

This book is just as creeptastic as the last and does not disappoint with messing with your mind. And just when you think you know what's up, nope, you're wrong.

Book 3 follows Sierra and the terrible things the psycho killer puts her through. And it's horrible! We get some answers in this one, but then are left with more questions. I need book 4 NOW!
