I have a perfect life. I recently rented the most adorable little apartment on top of my favorite bookstore coffee shop on Main Street in Holiday Hills, the charmingest of charming small southern towns. I spend my days ghostwriting a cozy mystery series for a well-known author, and maybe just a minute or two crushing on the town’s police chief. But of course, I’d never let that cat out of the bag. I'm still dealing with my recent divorce, and no matter what my bestie says, I'm so not ready for anything in the romance department.

Speaking of cats, my little Burmese, Cooper, follows me around like he’s my guard dog. Thankfully, Holiday Hills is animal friendly. Everyone’s got a cat or dog, and that crazy old woman on the back end of town has the funniest talking parrot.

Oh, that crazy old woman, she’s a local celebrity, which can be a lot of trouble for her daughter. How do I know? Because that’s me. I’m the crazy old woman’s daughter.

The good news is everyone loves my mother, including me. The bad news is she recently died, and when she did, she opened up a whole new world for me, one I’d always thought was fictional. The magical world.

Now I have witchy powers, a talking cat, and a knack for finding dead bodies in my quaint little town.

I received hundreds of emails from people who felt that little semi-mystery gave them hope, that it made them find comfort when they needed it most, and that they wished they had a friend like Mel.

I was hooked.

I don't write for the money (though the money is nice sometimes). I write for those emails, and knowing I'm doing what I love, finally. If my writing takes people away from their worries for even a short period of time, I'm a lucky gal.

I hope my parents can read in Heaven.

What's it about?

My Thoughts & Reviews

I absolutely loved this small town. Everyone knows everyone else. The bar is at the center of 3 of the 4 books, but plays a part in them all! The characters are all pretty relateable and just all around real!

Thea, Logan, and Charlie. What can I say? Thea and Logan are worlds apart. Charlie could steal anyone's heart, and does! That little girl is something special. Then you have Hazel and Jackson. Whew. I can't wait to read more from Lark Cove!

Jackson and Willa, wow. Willa is so timid and shy. She reminds me a lot of myself. Super relateable characters. I loved seeing more of Thea and Logan while getting to know these two.

Do NOT miss the short story offered at the end. Hazel gets hers! :D

Holy hello! At first I was really confused about who Piper is. Logan's assistant from New York, of course! I loved her in book 1 and got so excited to see her again. Kaine, holy moly the hell he has been living in makes you want to cry. My heart broke for him so many times, I spent the last so many chapters in tears. You will see why if you chose to read this, which I highly recommend you do!

Sofia, I really wanted to not like her. She was so . . . fake? I don't know. BUT, was she really? We learn more about her as she learns more about herself. Dakota, what a tortured soul. I fell in love with both of these characters pretty quickly. We learn more about Xavier, the tribe, and what brought him to Lark Cove. Pretty intense stuff in this one!
