Title: Heart & Hand
Author: Rebel Carter
Publisher: Siren Press
Release Date: January 22, 2019
Genre: Historical Romance
Editor: Squid & Ink
Cover: Najla Qamber Designs

Anyone who was absolutely anyone knew the story of how Julie Anne Baptiste’s parents met: the blue-blood Union cavalry officer and the freed woman on her way North fell madly in love at first sight, all in the midst of the Civil War. It was legendary within New York City's Four Hundred, and from girlhood, Julie daydreamed of her finding own true love match. But now, as a well-seasoned debutante of twenty-one years, Julie only dreams of teaching and much prefers the vibrant world of her books over the company of society’s most eligible bachelors.

Julie is content to perform the role of affluent debutante until she realizes all of her tomorrows have horrifyingly become occupied by a gamut of social engagements, and they will remain so until she marries. Desperate and knowing only a wedding will put a stop to the madness of living as a debutante, Julie does the unthinkable: she responds to a mail order advert in the Heart and Hand Matrimonial Times. No longer a girl fantasizing of love, Julie did not anticipate forming a genuine romantic connection with the man she corresponds with, but when ex-Union soldier Forrest Wickes writes her, Julie loses her heart.

All seems well with Julie’s plan to leave the city and marry, until the society pages intercept one of her letters and within the hour all of New York knows of Julie’s decision to become a mail-order bride. However, the New York City society pages don’t know they only reported half the truth about Julie Baptiste. The debutante intends to marry not only Forrest Wickes but also his best friend, William Barnes. Her secret of taking two husbands safe, Julie sets out for the Montana Territory before the papers can learn the truth. But how will a debutante-turned-teacher manage frontier life with two husbands?

~~~REVIEW~~~
Having two husbands is pretty brash nowadays but imagine having two husbands in the late 1800's! This unique historical romance from Rebel Carter is smoking hot! Let's be honest, Julie is living out our fantasy. The things Will and Forrest do to her left me blushing. This steamy read is sure to heat up your winter.
My inspiration for writing comes from all around me, overheard conversations, art that I see, lived experiences, snippets that I've read, songs I've heard, etc., and I know it helps me create a richer story for my reader. I have so many ideas swirling in my head, and I'm beyond excited to put them down on paper, or kindle, for y'all to read and love.
I've got an adventurous soul, and I've lived all over the world, Europe and Britain, not so much a fan (sorry!), to Asia, VERY MUCH A FAN. And after all the in-between, I ended up in Colorado, which I wouldn't trade for the world. For me, there is something magical about being able to view a snowcapped mountain while walking to work that sets my heart and creativity off like a firework. I hope that the stories I tell are able to give some of that magic back to you with every page turn.
Audiobook Review ~ The Vesik Series Books 4-6 by Eric Asher
***Remember this series is available in ebook, paperback, and audio!
Picture
A mad god. A vile betrayal. Necromancer Damian Vesik faces his darkest hour, but he's not dead yet.
This Broken World (book four)
An ocean of darkness lives in the journal of Philip Pinkerton. Ancient things with no place in our world are rising from the Abyss. Ezekiel, the arrogant, mad god, has called us into battle. Does he think we can't touch him, or does he know we can't? I wish I knew. The world’s only hope lies in a forgotten weapon, the strength of our allies, and one necromancer of questionable ancestry. Yeah, this is going to end well.
Destroyer Rising (book five)
It's been three years since we failed Vicky, the child once known as Elizabeth Gray. Three years she's lived as something not quite alive, but far from dead. Her path grows darker, even as she spreads light and hope through a tortured world. The Destroyer has come to claim her, and I can’t fail her again. I won't. Elizabeth's fate lies in the Burning Lands, and we will storm the gates.
Rattle the Bones (book six)
Much has been lost in the conflict with the Fae king and his allies, a conflict we hadn’t known we were in until one of our own fell at his hand. And while a great Seal between realms may have been rebuilt, dark things slipped through in the chaos, creatures who would overrun this world. Our allies are many. Our enemies are terrible. And someone ate my last chimichanga, despite the fact I had clearly marked it with a note that said it was mine.
This collection includes books four, five, and six of the Vesik urban fantasy series. Jump into the madness today!
BOOK 4
I cannot get enough of the Vesik Series! Damien Vesik is sarcastic, witty, and a total bad a**! It's everything I love in a character. The supporting cast is phenomenal as well.
While normally the books are fast paced and action packed, book 4 This Broken World, started off much slower. Vesik continues his training with The Old Man and the reader gets a look into the backstory of several players. While this slowed the paced it was necessary and lead to the power of the overall tale. In other words, trust me, it is worth your time.
The ending epic battle spans several chapters and is reminiscent of something out of a Tolkien story (LOTR). Asher just keeps getting better!
William Dufris is a fantastic narrator. He is Damien Vesik. With the character list growing with each new installment, Dufris still finds unique voices and mannerisms to give each their own personality.
I highly recommend the Vesik Series and narrator William Dufris.
BOOK 5
I am hooked on this series! Eric Asher has done an incredible job at world building and character development.
Destroyer Rising is by far the darkest and most emotional titles in the series thus far. I was blown away by Damien's love and commitment to Vicky/Elizabeth. The burning lands gave me the creepy crawlies!
William Dufris is a spectacular narrator and brings this story burning from the pages. William is my new fave!
BOOK 6
Each book in this series is more intense, more rapid paced, and more deadly than the one before it. I am astonished at the mind of Eric Asher! How does he keep it all straight? The sheer number of characters not to mention the intricate back stories of each one. Wow!
The narrator delivers another stellar performance. William Dufris is absolutely amazing. He lends a unique and fascinating voice to each character.
The Vesik Series is hands down one of my favorite series from Audible. Dufris brings the story leaping from the pages. I cannot wait to start the next book!
Review~ THE BEFORE by D.C. Grace
1/21/2019
The Before is the first book by author D.C. Grace that I have read. At first, I was unsure of how I felt about the fact the author wrote the story from several characters points of view. I was concerned that there would be no mystery since the reader saw so many sides to the story at once. Thankfully, that was not the case. Each of the dynamic characters had something to contribute and added depth and surprises to the story.
The Before was a fast-paced thrill ride with murder, mystery, lust, and love. It evoked all the feels. I laughed. I cried. I shook my fist in the air. It brought out a lot of emotion.
I look forward to reading other books by this author.
They say going home is easy, and in all reality, it should be. Just not for me.
The small, one-horse town that gave me my roots, that made my soul thrive, is also the place I never wanted to set foot in again. I left everything behind and never looked back. Until now. With the death of the man who raised me, I’m forced to return to Boone.
Old wounds resurface, and heartache and loss trump everything once more.
Seeing the man who shattered my world the night of our high school graduation almost brings me to my knees. Jessie, my once best friend and love of my life, ruined it all for me…for us.
I’m back in Boone…and my secret is about to rattle the tiny town.
I enjoyed this second change romance from HJ Bellus. Yes, there were some aspects that have been overdone, but HJ put her own touches to it. I am in a bit of a rut so this helped bring me out. Kept my attention and left me wanting more.
Finding one letter was inspiring to her story. Finding a second was exciting. But when Nell finds the third letter in the rock wall of her newly acquired estate, she’s a little more than curious as to what really happened to Joshua and his beloved Cora.
For this detached author who is starting her life over, Nell finds herself sucked into the idea of the intrigue, yearning and hoping that the lovers found a way to be together.
After asking a couple of new acquaintances in the nearby village about the estate’s history, she meets Reid, a historian and descendant of Joshua himself. They start to put together the pieces of the puzzle that seem to be a Romeo and Juliet style romance in the 1800’s.
Doubts, fears and suspicions threaten to interfere. But what they do learn is that Love sometimes crosses boundaries and time to happen, even in some of the most unexpected ways.
Letters To CoraLetters To Cora by Colleen Nye
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I really enjoyed this story! The first half was a little slow moving and seemed to drag a little bit but it was all good information and world/character building. The second half though, holy cow! I could not put it down. The connection between Joshua and Cora then Reid and Nell was something magical. The lineage and history of the families. Just wow. I highly recommend this read!
I have always been a storyteller. When I was little it was through art, video, and writing that I loved to express the tales that burst forth from my head. My hands shook as I held the camera for the first time, I remember its weight. Now I can seamlessly film without shaking. My writing is where I hope to first tell the unique stories and then I hope to show them in film.
I finally at age 30 have written my first novel “Beasts” that will be published on Amazon on August 20th. I am so excited to introduce totally different worlds, animals, perspectives, and characters into your life. I hope that my writing moves people to act and see real issues differently, and that it will make people think hard about what they currently are doing. I hope it challenges people to be the heroes of their own lives, as well as others.  May we all be heroes striving to bring peace to a world that needs it so much.
I wish I could remember the light. You might not care right now about the light, but when it is taken from you, when you start to forget how it looks, that’s when you realize how important it is. If you listen, you may be able to keep this luxury. If not, you may find yourself without it forever.
  Light is a gift. The light that sways before your eyes as you rise, or even the sunrise dotting the Earth as it wakes - reflections I believe they were called. You really don’t know what light is, how much of a blessing it is until it is taken from you. Imagine. Everything dark. A desolate gaping hole of nothingness. The lack of light fills you with a feeling of emptiness. The darkness consumes you as you try as hard as you can to hold onto anything, even if they are just memories of light. Even if you close your eyes, your mind tries to trick you that it’s still there. With small bursts of blue, yellow, so faint, and the illusion of light it satisfies you just a little. If I could show you everything, it would blind you.
  So, I will start with the small pieces, the shiny pieces, shimmering with hope until you finish my story. This is the story of Atlia, the blackened, the deserter, the murderer, the martyr, the whatever you would like to call me. To me, I am just a person who has a choice to make, a decision that could change my life forever, and yours.
Frantically, I searched her face until I reached her wounded eyes, and my insides knotted with uncertainty. I claimed her lips with mine, fitting perfectly together. Her mouth opened, and the salty taste of her tears forced reality into the room. As much as I wanted the kiss to linger, I had to make her understand how much I wanted her, and only her. Reluctantly, I backed away.
"I've loved you since we were kids. I wanted it to be me instead of that dick, Mark James, on your first date. I've wanted you so fucking bad, but I never told you how I felt because the thought of losing you, even as a friend, terrified me."
Her green, shock-filled eyes pooled with tears again. I did the only thing I thought would make her believe me. My hand wrapped around the back of her head, fingers weaving through her hair. I inched her closer until I felt her soft lips against mine.
The kiss started in a slow exploration. The moment my tongue met hers, her breath caught and her body shivered. My heart raced like a jackhammer when her fingers spread through my wet hair and the kiss deepened.
Damn she felt good, and tasted even better. Her lips were soft, but eager for more. Her hair felt like smooth silk beneath my hand. I wrapped my other arm around her waist and pulled her tighter against me, only it wasn't enough. I wanted more.
